Cabernet is in the eye of the beholder, and this beauty comes from Three Families Winery in Mendocino County, CA. The under-$20 price tag makes it especially lovely and low key enough for everyday enjoyment.
The Cabernet Sauvignon shows a deep purple color and flirts with its nose full of
rich earth, mineral, and woodsy elements that join with hot eucalyptus and hints of licorice and pine. On the palate, expect bright, racy cherries followed by raspberries and lingering notes of dried strawberries supported by mild tannins and oak. The soft-dry finish has hints of baked apples.
This is a bright, simple, elegant wine that is fruity at first but has a richer, drier finish.
