Cascina Adelaide Preda Barolo 2001

Color: Warm brick red
Nose: Swirls of earth, leather, forest floor, warm spices
Palate: Balanced earth and minerals, tannic structure, chewy texture. Warm, dry finish. Full bodied and earthy, with just a hint of plum.
The final word: Wow. Really nice, a gorgeous wine, good on its own or with deep, tomato-based dishes. Good to drink now, or cellar for a few more years.

Joseph Cattin Pinot Noir

Color: Light bodied, similar to a Rosé but more traditionally reddish hue.
Scent: Heavy cola, cherry, strawberry, hints of spice and woody earth on the nose.
Taste: Lightly dry, very mellow and fruity - think berry with hits of pepper with a light but lingering finish. Very smooth and enjoyable.
Cost: $25
Winery: Joseph Cattin, Alsace France

Taste: ripe round cherry and mineral notes followed by hints of sweet red fruit
Pairing: Good with antipasto selections, red meat dishes, red sauce pastas or just about any style of pizza
