Sant'Elena Ros di Rol Rosso 1997

Opaque and cloudy ruby-red, this hot number offers up a heady nose of spices, earth, pine, eucalyptus, and faint florals. Lighter-bodied than I expected, the wine tastes of plum and earth and minerals with a tannic structure that finishes dry.

I had to double-decant it to remove some sediment, but the effort is worth it. This is a Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot blend in the Bordeaux style.
