Nose: Fresh floral notes with earthy oak and subtle leather, with a slight sweetness of candied apple and pipe tobacco.
Palate: This grenache hails from Santa Barbara County and has a lot to offer for someone that favors the sweeter side of medium-rich reds. The initial burst of cherry and fig quickly gives way to a nice balance of oak with cola. The elegantly sweet, lingering finish accompanies a touch of smokiness that gives this wine a firm but fruity backbone. This red is a perfect late summer harvest fare, pairing well with BBQ dishes - especially with rubs that include brown sugar in the recipe - and would stand up well to fatty cuts of beef fresh off the grill.
