Casa Silva Reserva Syrah 2005

Color: Deep ruby-red

Nose: Leather, tobacco and berry fruit with hints of baking spice and licorice

Palate: This fairly straightforward Chilean is an easy drinking but somewhat elegant wine. The initial spicy notes quickly give way to racy raspberry and blackberry flavors with an underpinnings of licorice. It has a fleshy bent right off that is accompanied soft layers of sweetness and spice as it finishes. For the price ($15 retail), one of the more elegant but fun reds of the Colchagua Valley.
