I admit that Carmenere is one of my favorites. It's not as tannic as Cabernet Sauvignon, not as jammy as Merlot, more full-bodied than Pinot Noir and generally very versatile. This Carmenere is made in the Colchagua Valley of Chile, and I'm a fan.
Deep burgundy color. Scents of perfume rose, sweet sawdust, fig, plum, raisin. Fresh and clean on the palate with blackberry and plum, jam and minerals, finishing with spices.
I like the straightforward character of this wine - it's fresh and earthy, deep enough for chili and other spicy fare but light enough to be enjoyed on its own.
